The band Cantrip — which gets its name from an old Scottish word meaning a charm, magic spell or piece of mischief — brings its musical offerings to Ashfield this weekend.
Originally formed as a quartet, the band got its start in Edinburgh, Scotland, nearly 20 years ago. Following a multitude of albums and touring around the world, the band redefined its sound, trimming itself to a trio.
The band is touring in promotion of its most recent album, “The Crossing.” Cantrip, in recognition of 20 years of performing, will also be revisiting its debut album “Silver,” with a live re-release slated for the fall of 2018.
The band consists of Jon Bews, Dan Houghton and Eric McDonald.
See Cantrip at the Ashfield Community Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets for adults are $15 in advance, $17 at the door; children (13 and under) are $7, $8 at the door; children 5 under are admitted for free.
Advance tickets are available at Elmer’s Store, Ashfield; World Eye Books, Greenfield; Broadside Books, Northampton; and online at: www.brownpapertickets.com.
