BOSTON — The state-sponsored annual Park Serve Day is Saturday with more than 30 state park events organized throughout the commonwealth.
The Great Falls Discovery Center in Montague is the only site in Franklin County. Those planning to help are asked to meet at the Great Hall at 10 a.m., with work concluding at noon
Park Serve Day is a statewide initiative that was created as a day of volunteerism encouraging the public to partner with state government in an effort to prepare the commonwealth’s many state parks and beaches for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.
“The Department of Conservation and Recreation’s park system provides invaluable natural, cultural, recreational and historical resources that enhance our lives on a daily basis,” said Gov. Charlie Baker in a press release. “With local cleanup events coordinated at several popular state parks, Park Serve Day is an opportunity to give back and assist in beautifying our important environmental assets.”
Volunteers can register for an event on the Park Serve Day webpage at: www.mass.gov/service-details/park-serve-day-2018-saturday-april-28.
