GREENFIELD — Associate Principal Tom Gaffigan has resigned from his position at Greenfield High School, citing personal reasons.

Gaffigan, who has been with the high school for about five years, told staff in an email it’s been a tough 1.5 years for him and his family, and this resignation will allow him to reflect. “I want to thank each and everyone of you for the support you have given to me during these stressful times,” he said in the email.

His last day at Greenfield High School was March 16.

Gaffigan reflected to staff on his time at the high school, moving from the old building to the new. “We have come a long way since those days! I feel I am leaving a Greenfield High that is much improved from my first year here,” Gaffigan said. “The hard work that all of you put in and the caring you show for your students is extraordinary. I know you all will carry on and make GHS an even better place to be in the future.”

Principal Karin Patenaude said it was a pleasure working with Gaffigan and wishes him well.

The high school is currently in search of a new associate principal, Patenaude said. It is unclear at the moment whether this move will alter the Greenfield Public Schools budget at all.
