GREENFIELD — Recreation and transportation in Greenfield, as they pertain to the well-being and quality of life, are the subjects of a panel discussion Thursday.
It’s the second event in a series organized by the Sustainable Greenfield Implementation Committee.
“When residents wrote our master plan three years ago, people saw improving recreational opportunities and enhancing how we get around as key to improving our quality of life physically and socially, by getting outdoors and opening opportunities to jobs, daycare, healthy food, entertainment, exercise, shopping and civic engagement,” said Nancy Hazard, committee chairwoman, in a press release. “We want to share progress made, how you can get involved, and hear your thoughts.”
The panelists will include Christy Moore, director of the Recreation Department, and George Touloumtzis, member of the Planning Board and the Sustainable Greenfield Implementation Committee. The moderator will be Ashli Stempel, city councilor and committee member.
Thursday’s discussion is scheduled to start at 7 p.m at 114 Main St.
The third and final panel of this series, looking at the economic and environmental benefits of moving toward a fossil-fuel free future, is planned for Thursday, May 24.
The Sustainable Greenfield Implementation Committee aims to bring the city’s master plan to reality by identifying, recommending and implementing programs that foster a vital, sustainable and resilient community. The board focuses on the three interlocking aspects of sustainability: the economy, the environment and society.
