ASHFIELD — Two candidates have been nominated at caucus to run for a Selectboard seat in the annual town election on May 5: Mary Link and Steve Gougeon.
Mary Link is a self-employed consultant, non-violence trainer and a grant writer. She is co-founder of Ashfield Community Theater.
Steve Gougeon is a cabinet/furniture maker and owner of Apple Valley Woodworking. He and his wife also run Bear Swamp Orchard and Cidery. He served as chairman of the Historical Commission for 10 years and currently serves on the town’s Agricultural Commission.
Both will be running for the Selectboard seat of Ron Coler, who is not running for re-election.
Also, Emily Robertson, who has served on the Mohawk Trail Regional School District Committee for eight years, is not seeking re-election to a fourth term. Jennifer Markens has accepted a nomination to serve a three-year term on that board.
For one-year terms, Town Moderator Stewart “Buz” Eisenberg and Tree Warden Tom Poissant will be running for re-election.
Incumbents nominated for re-election to three-year terms are: Assessor Amy Shapiro; Board of Health, Carrie O’Gorman; Constable Warren Kirkpatrick; and Sewer Commission, Nancy Hoff.
Kyle Taylor was nominated for Finance Committee and Helene Leue was nominated for Parks Commission. Both are for three-year terms. Also Jane Shaney was nominated to a five-year Planning Board Seat.
Library Trustee Caroline Murray is seeking re-election for another five-year term.
