GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and other driving violations after his discharge from the hospital, for injuries he sustained from a car crash on Green River Road.
Andrew P. Engle, 29, of Woodleigh Avenue, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a vehicle, speeding, having an open container of alcohol in the car, failure to keep right for an oncoming vehicle, and failure to use a seat belt.
The accident occurred around 4:55 p.m. Tuesday. Two witnesses said he had been traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle while turning a corner. Engle had been taken by ambulance to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, and he was arrested following his release from the hospital.
