GREENFIELD — Greenfield Police are seeking more information about two men who allegedly stole $300 worth of lottery tickets Tuesday afternoon, then redeemed their scratch tickets 20 minutes later for $175 at a store in Shelburne Falls.

On Thursday afternoon, Planet Gas on the Mohawk Trail reported that 15 of their $20 lottery tickets were stolen at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the police log, two men “used diversion tactics on a cashier to lure him into the bathroom” by telling him it was flooded. One of the men took the lottery tickets while the clerk was distracted. About 20 minutes later, the men arrived at the Neighbors Store on State Street, Shelburne Falls, and received $175 in cash for their scratch tickets.

No further information was available Wednesday afternoon beyond what was reported in the police log.
