SHELBURNE — It could be the end of the road for Trail Toc Diner, in the Arrowhead Shops plaza on the Mohawk Trail.

Owner and chef Bonnie Brown announced the restaurant’s closing on the eighth anniversary of when it opened, on Oct. 10. Brown said she will stay open through Oct. 31. After the diner is closed, Brown is moving to Arizona to take care of her elderly mother.

“Today I am having happy and sad emotions,” Brown posted on social media this week. “Eight years ago I got the keys to Trail Toc Diner, which was a beginning of my dream and yet today is the day I start packing up and say farewell to my customers. So tough for me, but you all know me; you can’t keep me down. Moving forward for family reasons…and I know the right thing to do.”

Brown, a Greenfield resident, and a 20-year caterer, has been running breakfast and lunch specials every day but Christmas. Brown said she has loved working in the diner. “I met a lot of neat people,” she said. “Busy or slow, I still loved doing what I do.”

“I’m so sad about closing,” she added. “Trust me — it was my dream. Who’s to say I might not open another (diner) some day.”

Brown said she’ll “still be cookin’” throughout October, and Trail Toc will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
