Turners Falls scored six unanswered runs over the fifth and sixth innings to come back from a 4-1 deficit and clinch first place in the Suburban League 14-and-Under Division with a 7-4 victory over Easthampton Thursday night at Bourdeau Fields Complex in Turners Falls.

Easthampton took a 4-1 lead into the fifth inning before Turners scored three times to tie the game. The host then scored three more times in the sixth to take the lead.

Katie Reynolds belted a two-run double to highlight the game-tying fifth inning. In the sixth, Juliana Rode started the game-winning rally with a double. Caelyn Patenaude hit an RBI double in the sixth, and Olivia Whittier hit an RBI triple.

Jade Tyler earned the win, striking out 12.

Turners wrapped up the regular season 11-1 overall and will host a playoff game Monday night at 7.

Adult softball

PV Women’s League

Amanda Abramson Clarke works as a realtor at Cohn & Company and on Thursday night she showed she knows how to close on a deal.

Leading the offense with two hits and an RBI, Abramson Clarke helped Ashfield secure first place in the Pioneer Valley Women’s Softball League with a 3-2 victory over Conway.

Taylor Boutwell added two hits for Ashfield (11-1), Meg Burrington had one hit and one RBI, and Sarah Crowell had a pair of hits.

Conway (10-2) finished second on the season. Sam Torres and Kara Fagan each had one hit and one RBI in the loss.

The league will hold its season-ending tournament Saturday and Sunday at Pettingill Field in Cummington beginning at 8 a.m.

• In other action, Carrie LeDoyt slugged a home run and the Buckland Cubs bested Shelburne, 9-7.

Andrea LeDoyt doubled in the win.

Nichole Valeski tripled for Shelburne, and Shirley MacLean doubled. Erica Mason contributed with a pair of RBIs.

Road Race

Northfield Summer Series

Joe Sumner raced across the finish line in 23 minutes, 13 seconds to win the weekly 3.3-mile Northfield Summer Series Road Race on Thursday.

Tyssen LaBombard came in second in 23:28, and Dave Kaczenski was third in 23:31. Mark Balan was fourth (24:40), Kyle Sebring was fifth (26:07), and Rowan McKeon was sixth (27:00). Robin McKeon was the top women’s finishers, placing seventh overall in 27:02. Neal Gifford came in eighth (28:24) and Marguerite Lacroix was ninth (28:28).

The series continues through the end of August. Registration begins at 6 p.m. and the race starts at 6:30. Cost is $4 per person with a maximum of $10 per family. Members of high school fall sports teams run for free. Prizes are awarded to all participants and walkers are welcome to begin the course early.

Joe Sumner traversed the 3.3 mile course in 23 minutes, 13 seconds taking first overall in the Northfield Summer series on Thursday. Robin McKeon was the first female finisher crossing the line in 27:02. The top ten finishers were Sumner (23:13), Tyssen Lombombard (23:28), Dave Kacenski (23:31), Mark Balan (24:40), Kyle Sebring (26:07), Rowan McKeon (27:00), Robin McKeon (27:02), Neal Gifford (28:24), Marguerite Lacroix (28:28).

Ashfield Ladies League

Francie Hall and Barb Ladd shot a 37 to win the two-person, best-ball scramble during the Thursday Morning Ladies’ League at the Ashfield Community Golf Club.

The duo needed just 10 putts to finish the nine holes.

K of C League

Jim Koldis and Chris Sacco both finished plus-6 to win the weekly point quota during the Knights of Columbus Golf League at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club Wednesday in Turners Falls.

Ron Lenois Jr. was third at plus-5, and Ray Godin was fourth at plus-4. Stephan Smith was closest on No. 7 at 4 feet, 6 inches, while Koldis was closest on No. 9 at 2-5.

Thomas Ladies League

Sue Overstreet won the weekly point quota at plus-9 during the Thomas Memorial Ladies League on Wednesday.

Karen Hopkins was second in points at plus-7, while Mary Ellen Fydenkevez, Marilyn Kostanski and Jeanette Lawrence tied for third at plus-4. Overstreet won low gross with a 41.

Baseball

Babe Ruth Fall Ball

The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball Association will hold registrations for its Fall Baseball League on four upcoming dates:

On Saturday and Aug. 12 the league will hold registrations from 10 a.m. until noon, and on Sunday and Aug. 13 the league will hold registrations from 1 until 3 p.m. All registration sessions will take place at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield.

The Fall League is open to anyone ages 12 through 14. Babe Ruth is the next step for those players aging out of Cal Ripken next season and Fall Ball is a great introduction to a full-size diamond.

The Pioneer Valley Pole Vault School in Bernardston is open by appointment for individual and group lessons through the fall with negotiable rates.

Lessons will be taught by Pioneer Valley Regional School track and Northfield Mount Hermon pole-vault coach Jim Bell, himself a Masters pole vaulter.
