Tynan Creagh’s two-run home run proved to be the difference, as Frontier Alber Hearing Services edged Granby, 3-1, in a Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Sandy Koufax game Friday night at Headmaster Field in Deerfield.
Creagh also doubled for Frontier, which received offensive contributions from Kevin Baumann (double), Tom Alber (two hits), Ben Zaranek (two hits), Matt Como (hit) and Gehrig Brynda (hit).
Zaranek tossed six scoreless innings to earn the win on the mound. Kyle Barnes picked up the save, while Como had a strong defensive outing in center field.
• Elsewhere, Cam Lococo went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, but Mohawk Hubie’s Tavern dropped a 6-3 contest to Dalton Friday night in Buckland.
Jaden Moore had a hit and a run for Mohawk, while Elias Steadman also had a hit. Tyler Dubrule, Shawn Davenport and Nick Boesel-Stravino accounted for the RBI on the night, while Davenport struck out six in five-plus innings of work on them ound.
Mohawk Hubie’s (2-7) returns to action today against Palmer at 2 p.m.
Greenfield Co-Rec
Tyler Leroux went 4-for-5 with a home run and Ainslee Penfield also added four hits as R.G. Penfield & Sons defeated Paddy’s Pub, 14-9, in a Greenfield Co-Rec Softball League game Friday night.
• Elsewhere, Colton Yezierski was a perfect 6-for-6 as The Outlaws defeated Main Street Bar & Grille No. 2, 18-7, on Friday.
Mariah Crossman was 5-for-5 for the Outlaws.
Angela Kosloski had a hit for Main Street, while Ben Wesolowski doubled for his team.
Greenfield Senior Open
Tom Bergeron’s 69 put him atop the field, taking first place as the low gross winner of the Greenfield Senior Open held Friday at the Country Club of Greenfield.
Paul Nunez was one shot back as the runner-up with a round of 70.
Jordan Haskell’s 63 gave him low net honors, ahead of Phil Phillips and Adam Lussier, who tied for second at 65.
Dean Godek had the low gross in the 50-59 year old division at 71, while Chuck Yetter’s 67 gave him low net honors.
In 60-69 year old division action, Hugh Barber’s 71 put him at low gross honors while Irv Sanders’ 67 was the low net.
Sam Lussier was the low gross winner in the 70 and up division at 77, while Marty Martinez and Paul Erwin tied for low net at 66.
Timmons League
Ray Kendrick and Mark Horta fired a low gross of 38 to take top honors at the Timmons League Wednesday night at Northfield Golf Course.
Cody Lapine and Dave Phillips posted the low net of 27, while match medalist was Doug Farrick with a 39. Eric Bush was closest to the pin on No. 6 (3 feet, 8 inches), while Pat Varner was closest on No. 7 (8-5).
