I am a retired captain from the Greenfield Fire Department and back around 2009, we responded to the area of Barber Avenue for the report of a fire in the woods. Upon checking it out, we found a homeless couple and they had a camp fire.
Upon further investigation of the area, it was a mess back then, just as it is now. This has been going on in that area for years. If Mayor Martin had cleaned it up then and posted it, perhaps it wouldn’t be such an expense now. Watch out Greenfield. He may try to get your DPW to assist in cleaning it up. He’s always looking for ways to cut costs, even his own.
