HAWLEY — Selectman John Sears won’t be seeking re-election. Robert Root has filed nomination papers for the three-year selectman’s term is this year’s annual election.

This year’s town election will be held on May 1, with voting from 11:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hawley Town Office, 8 Pudding Hollow Road.

There are several open town positions for which no one has filed nomination papers.

The following incumbents filed nomination papers for re-election to three-year terms: Town Clerk Pamela Shrimpton; Rick Kean for Board of Assessors; and Sally Rich for Hawlemont School Committee.

Kirby “Lark” Thwing has stepped down from his school committee seat on the Mohawk Trail Regional School District, and hasn’t indicated whether he is seeking re-election to a one-year term as town moderator.

No one filed nomination papers for the one-year term as town auditor, a seat held by Carla Clark.

There are also vacancies on several town committees: Board of Appeals, Conservation Commission, Cooperative Public Health Oversight Committee and Agriculture Committee.
