It has come to my attention that wood biomass was the dominant topic during the recent Mohawk Trail Woodlands Partnership Advisory Committee meeting on March 7, organized by Peggy Sloan of Franklin Regional Council of Governments.
I also heard that the subject of the climate crisis barely came up. I find that intriguing, given that the recent enabling legislation for MTWP introduced by Rep. Kulik makes no mention of climate trashing biomass incineration or wood pellet manufacturing.
Truth be told, much of the Mohawk Trail Woodlands Partnership plan is all about bringing biomass incineration back to Franklin County in a big way, years after a proposed wood-burning generator in Greenfield failed. Some time ago, I sat in a room at FRCOG listening to biomass industry spokesmen advocating for biomass production and incineration. They have friends in state government, at UMass, and at FRCOG and the plan seems to be: Bring on the Son of Biomess!
