The Athol boys volleyball team lost to Veritas Prep Charter School, 3-0, on Wednesday night in a West League matchup. Set scores were 18-25, 24-26 and 11-25 at Mallet Gymnasium.

Aiden Desreuisseau and Caunor Mason led the offense with 11 kills each for the Bears (7-8, 4-3 West). Erick Brito played set up with 20 assists for Athol. The Vipers (12-2, 8-1) are one of the top teams in the league. Ware (13-1, 6-0) is first in the league standings.

Desreuisseau added 15 digs to lead the defensive effort. Mason added another seven digs. Athol hosts Hampden Charter School of Science on Thursday night back at Mallet Gymnasium at 6:15 p.m.

Girls track & field

Mohawk 117, Athol 22 The Warriors won an Intercounty matchup against the Bears in Buckland. Mohawk swept every event except for the shot put. Morgan Raffa was a multiple first place finisher in throwing events for the Warriors. Raffa placed first in the discus (96-1) and the javelin (109-9).

Zephyr Jetzon also won multiple events, placing first in the triple jump (31-8.5) and the 200-meter (28.2). Natalie Lanoue added a win in the mile (6:30.6), with Virginia Krezmien also winning the two-mile (13:07.8) for Mohawk. Kamrya Clark picked up a first place (24-6.25) finish for the Bears in the shot put.

Frontier 120, Greenfield 25 — The Redhawks were too much for the Green Wave in an Intercounty matchup in Greenfield. Louise Flagollet won the 200-meter, the 400-meter (1:02.3) and the high jump (five feet, two inches) for Frontier. For Greenfield, Kyra Tamsin placed first (17 seconds) in the 110-hurdles and the 400-hurdles (1:09.3). Nina St. Clair won the triple jump (33-11.5) and the long jump (16 feet) for Greenfield. Ashlie Galenski added a win (75-9) in the discus for Frontier. Bailey Cusson also won the javelin (100-8) for Frontier.

Boys track & field

Greenfield 85, Frontier 60 — Mason Youmell won four events for the Green Wave in an Intercounty victory over the Redhawks in Greenfield Youmell won the 400-hurdles (57.8), the triple jump (40-5), the pole vault (12 feet) and the 110-hurdles (15.7). Jack Laurie also won multiple events for the Green Wave, placing first in the javelin (162-4), the high jump (six feet) and the 100-meter (11.4). Luke Howard led the charge for Frontier, winning the mile (4:48) and the 800-meter. Javion Williams placed first in the long jump (19-3.25) and the 400-meter (55.1) for Greenfield.

The 4×100 team from Greenfield, consisting of James Iavorschi, Yothnais Miranda, Laurie and Kymel Ramsey broke a school record (45 seconds) in the meet with their first-place finish.
