Free Week: People ages 50-plus can try a variety of Y classes and activities for free from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday. Hypnomotivation Class: This class will help you stop letting your “won’t power” hijack your “willpower.” Join Certified Hypno Coach Deborah Yaffee for four sessions and learn how to use the power of your mind to stay on track with your weight and exercise plans. Trivia night to benefit Y veteran’s programs: On Saturday, Feb. 25, the YMCA is hosting a fun trivia night to raise financial aid dollars to support its veteran’s programs. The event will be at the Moose Lodge in Greenfield. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., first round begins at 7. People are asked to put together teams of eight players. The entry fee is $10 per person. The winning team will receive $100. Bring your own snacks. There will also be Y raffle prizes. Register at the YMCA Welcome Center. Brain based yoga therapy for chronic pain: On Wednesday, Jan. 25, from noon to 1 p.m., the YMCA will be offering a free presentation on yoga for recovery from chronic pain. People will learn the role the body-mind plays in chronic pain. Brain based yoga therapy is a neuro-biological retraining system that combines ancient yogic principles and cutting edge pain theory. Participants will learn how using gently yoga flow, powerful mental imagery and incremental exposure may block habitual brain/pain pathways and over time. Weight loss programs: The Y has created two programs to help people lose weight in 2017 — a weight loss exercise program and nutrition classes. People can enroll in one or both of the nine week programs, which start Jan. 17. There is a discount for registering for both programs and/or enrolling with a fitness partner. Aqua breast cancer survivor class: This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15 to 3 p.m. It is a water fitness class specifically designed for breast cancer survivors to improve flexibility, strength, stability and cardio endurance. Course fees for 16 classes are $56 for Y members and $72 for Program Associates.
