Jake Dodge hit four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points to lead Turners Falls past South Hadley, 49-46, in a grades 7 and 8 Suburban League boys’ basketball game Sunday in South Hadley.
Gavin Rubio added 7 points in the win. Ryan Bergmann and Dalton Henderson each finished with 6.
Turners 5/6 top Pioneer
Logan Addison’s 13 points helped Turners Falls to a 56-35 win over Pioneer in a grades 5 and 6 SL boys’ basketball game Saturday at Messer Gymnasium in Northfield.
Kayden Lehtomaki and Noah Ausikaitis each netted a dozen points while Jake Lavin added 10.
Sam Glazier led Pioneer with 14 points, and Will Glazier scored his first points of the season and finished with 2.
KOC free-throw winners
Five local youths advanced to the Knights of Columbus District Championships after winning the Turners Falls Knights of Columbus Council 737 Free-Throw Basketball Championship Saturday at Sheffield Elementary School in Turners Falls.
Madison Liimatainen won the 10-year-old girls’ bracket, while Kyleigh Dobosz won the 11-year-old girls’ title. Allison Kandel won the 12-year-old girls’ crown, and Haleigh Greene was the 13-year-old girls’ champion. Deion Brewington-Simon was the champion for the 12-year-old boys’ division.
The district championships take place on Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. at the Greenfield YMCA.
FCHA Mites win
Luca Siano had four goals and three assists Saturday to lead Franklin County Hockey Association to a 12-5 win over Nonotuck in a Greater Springfield League Mite Division game at the Olympia in West Springfield.
Shawn Baumann and Jahleel Perry each had two goals in the win. Jack Laurie had one goal and one assist. Cordellia Rhodes, Chase Zraunig and Stefan Flaska each had a goal, and Hayden Ardrey had an assist. Carter Schloat made 12 saves to earn the victory.
