Connor Pettis, Josiah Murry and Andrew Logan all went 3-0 Saturday to lead Frontier Regional School to a 2-1 record in three matches during South Hadley High School Duals wrestling action.

The Red Hawks defeated Northampton High School (48-18) and Granby High School (42-33) but suffered a 48-14 loss to Monument Mountain Regional High School.

Pettis won two matches by first-period pin and picked up his third win by technical fall at 126 pounds. Murry wrestled at 138 and 145 pounds and had one pin, one decision and a forfeit en route to his perfect day. Logan wrestled at 160 pounds and won all three of his matches by pin.

Tanner Finch wrestled at 106 and 113 pounds and finished with a pair of wins.

Tech perfect at home

Franklin County Technical School went 4-0 at Eagle Duals wrestling action Saturday in Turners Falls.

The Eagles defeated Quabbin Regional High School (42-36), Athol High School (42-28), Mahar Regional School (51-24) and Mt. Greylock Regional High School (48-21) on the day.

Kyle Brunelle wrestled at both 106 and 113 pounds and finished 3-1 with three pins. Skyler Rouse wrestled at both 126 and 132 pounds and went 3-1 with two pins and a forfeit. Jordan Bashaw was the third and final Eagle to finish 3-1 with two pins and a win by decision at 160 pounds.

Four wrestlers — Peter Saladino (106), Colin Pettis (120, 126), Caileb Milton (182) and Mike Mattson (285) — each finished 2-2 with a pair of pins.

Jaden Sadlowski (120), Ian McClure (138), Chris Ludwig (145), Brody Wood (170), Spencer Telega (170), each had one win via pin on the day.

Mahar 2-2 at Tech

Grapplers Todd Chaisson and Matt Herk both were unbeaten in leading Mahar Regional School to a 2-2 record Saturday at the Eagle Duals in Turners Falls.

Mahar defeated Essex Technical High School (59-18) and Nashoba Valley Regional High School (48-24) but lost to both Franklin Tech (51-24) and Mt. Greylock (48-30).

Chaisson was perfect at 138 pounds with two pins and two forfeit wins. Herk barely worked up a sweat at 220 pounds, winning three forfeits and a pin to go unbeaten.

Miller Richardson went 3-1 at 145 pounds with two pins and a decision, and Peter Tatton was 3-1 at 160 with two pins and a forfeit. Ben Gilmore put together a 3-1 record at 170 with a decision, technical fall and pin, Chad Marcoux was 3-1 at 182 with three pins, and Branden Burke was 3-1 at 285 with two pins and a forfeit.

Chris Vezina added a pin at 113 pounds.

Athol 1-2-1 at Tech

Athol wrestling finished 1-2-1 Saturday at the Eagle Duals in Turners Falls.

Athol defeated Essex Tech (42-36), tied Mt. Greylock (36-36), and lost to Franklin Tech (42-28) and Quabbin (46-33).

Trevor Mousseau was unbeaten on the day at 182 pounds with two wins by pin and two wins by decision. Jon Mahony was also unbeaten with two pins, a win by technical fall and a forfeit.

Merrick Decker was 3-1 at 126 pounds with all three wins by pin, and Ryan White was 3-1 at 132 pounds with all his wins by pin. Chris Waslaske also went 3-1 with two pins and a decision at 170 pounds, Caleb Cox went 3-1 with two pins and a decision at 120 pounds, and Mike Gray was 3-1 with two pins at 152 pounds.

Hockey

Easthampton 3, Turners Falls 2 — Garren Fugiel scored a pair of first-period goals and Easthampton High School edged Turners Falls High School, 3-2, in a Fay-Wright Division hockey game Saturday evening at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.

Both teams entered the game looking for their first win of the season. It was the Eagles (1-5-0) who struck early and never relinquished the lead. Fugiel scored both goals in the first period for Easthampton, while Turners Falls (0-7-0) got a first-period goal from Bryan Baumann, assisted from Dalton DeForest.

Easthampton scored the lone goal of the second period when Mike McColgan scored an unassisted goal to send the visitors into the third period with a two-goal cushion. Camden Barnes scored an unassisted goal in the third to cut the deficit to one, but Easthampton goalie Nate Barnes barred the door from there.

Easthampton outshot the Indians, 28-17. Barnes stopped 15 shots to earn the win. Jordyn Lavallee continued his strong play for Turners Falls, turning aside 25 shots.
