An inspiring night of activist music will open a full weekend event where artists and activists from across the Northeast and beyond will gather to sustain and develop traditions of music as a tool of social change.
On Friday, Jan. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Greenfield Middle School auditorium, a diverse community of singers, artists, activists and allies will join together to “lift their voices.”
The inspiring night of activist music will open the full weekend event.
Those who will be performing include The Fruit of Labor Singing Ensemble, The Amandla Chorus, Tem Blessed, Joshua Garcia, Evan Greer, Dilson Hernandez and Ren Anton, Gloria Mattlock, Moonlight and Morning Star and Lindsey Wilson.
Concert tickets are $15 online, $20 at the door, and $25 for the solidarity ticket.
Students and low-income individuals are $10 online and $15 at the doors.
One concert ticket in included when you register for the full Winter Gathering, which runs Jan. 27 through 29.
The music will range from funk, jazz and gospel to hip-hop, African-American spirituals and folk. There will also be spoken word performances.
The People’s Music Network hopes to build community and a common understanding that no one is free until everyone is free.
Throughout the weekend there will be educational workshops, activities for children and teens, song swaps, mentoring sessions and more.
A Round Robin will highlight the role of music in progressive social change.
