GREENFIELD — Snow overnight caused at least two crashes involving tractor-trailers in Greenfield Monday morning.
The county saw snowfall between 3 inches in Bernardston to a reported 6.3 inches in Shelburne, according to the National Weather Service.
Greenfield Police Deputy Chief Mark Williams said one tractor-trailer jackknifed at Allen Street and Columbus Avenue around 6:34 a.m., becoming wedged between a utility pole and a fire hydrant. Neither the pole nor the hydrant were damaged and no one was injured.
Then, around 9:13 a.m., slick road conditions caused another tractor-trailer to jackknife at Main, High and Crescent streets. The driver, who declined to give her name, said “New England weather” was the cause of the incident, which she said affected traffic for roughly 15 minutes.
Both trucks had to be towed, Williams said.
A third truck became stuck under the Bank Row bridge at 7 a.m., but was able to free itself.
All roads involved are now open to traffic again, Williams said.
