GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Elks Lodge will hold its annual hoop shoot contest for boys and girls ages 8 to 13 on Sunday afternoon at the YMCA.

Registration for the free basketball foul line shooting contest will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 3 p.m. Participants will be divided into three age groups, and those who make the most out of 25 shots will be awarded first, second and third place.

“It’s a great program. We’ve been doing it for many years,” said Robert Mott, past district deputy at the Greenfield Elks Lodge.

Because the event is held by Elks lodges across the country, winners in Greenfield will have the opportunity to move onto district, state, regional and national competitions. Mott said any local child can participate, but said because the Montague Elks Lodge also holds a hoop shoot contest, participants can’t compete in both.

The Greenfield Elks Lodge will provide hotdogs, hamburgers and soda for children after the event.
