Internationally active peace worker Paula Green of Leverett will present a talk on “Despair to Empowerment in our Watershed Moment,” Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at Northampton Friends Meeting, 43 Center St., Northampton.

The free program, followed by discussion, is sponsored by Traprock Center for Peace and Justice’s “Common Threads” series.

Green, who has led group discussions for 40 years, will help explore responses of attendees to challenges of these times, facilitating conversations about “how to protect our community and planet while strengthening our resistance to the undermining of justice.”

Green founded Amherst-based Karuna Center for Peacebuilding in 1994, leading programs in inter-group relations and conflict resolution throughout the world. In 2009, she received an award from the Dalai Lama as an “Unsung Hero of Compassion” for making our world a better place.
