TURNERS FALLS — The Nolumbeka project is hosting speaker Evan Pritchard this Saturday at the fourth annual Beaver Moon Gathering at the Great Falls Discovery Center in Turners Falls.
The event, which runs from 1 to 3 p.m., is a presentation by Pritchard, who is the director of the Center for Algonquin Culture in New York. The title of his presentation is “Waterways and Crossroads: Connecting sacred sites in Nolumbeka” which is a continuation of a previous talk Pritchard gave at the Discovery Center.
The event is named after the Beaver Moon, a time before winter sets in where the Native Americans would set beaver traps before the swamps froze, according to a press release from the Nolumbeka Project.
There will also be a raffle drawing at the event, according to Nolumbeka Project events coordinator and treasurer Diane Dix.
The event is free and open to the public.
