Kenzie Tenney and Delaney Parker each scored in the second half on Saturday night and Mahar Regional School tuned up for the WMass Division III postseason with a 2-0 independent girls’ soccer victory over rival Athol High School at O’Brien Field in Athol.

The game was scoreless at the break but Tenney, the Senators’ leading scorer this season, broke the tie with a goal in the 52nd minute off an assist from Ella Fontaine. The Senators sealed the victory in the 69th minute when eighth-grader Delaney Parker beat Athol goalie Peyton Parker off an assist from Mollie Burke.

Mahar (13-5-1) outshot Athol, 14-7, and Tori Tenney stopped five shots to earn the shutout.

Athol finished the season 6-11-1 overall as Parker made six saves in net.

Boys’ soccer

Renaissance 3, Mahar 1 — Renaissance School used a pair of second-half goals to get past Mahar, 3-1, in an independent boys’ soccer game Saturday morning in Springfield.

Renaissance led 1-0 at the break and then scored twice in the second half to thwart a comeback from Mahar, which used a Matt Jenks goal to try to get back in the game. Jamie Temple assisted on the goal but it was not enough for the Senators, who finished the season 8-8-2 and will now prepare for the upcoming WMass tournament.

Renaissance got goals from Tsenu Erkailo, Joseph Aponte and Eamonn Mahoney. Kyle Kalin stopped five shots in the win.

Bryce Cleveland made nine saves in the loss.

Dublin 2, Charlemont 1 — Dublin School eliminated the Academy at Charlemont, 2-1, in a River Valley Athletic League boys’ soccer semifinal Sunday in Charlemont. 

Dublin scored twice in the first half and held off the Aardvarks second-half comeback attempt. Aiden Brenizer scored the lone goal in the loss. Sam Zakon-Anderson, Henry Walker-West, Tucker Boyd and Ben Schocket-Greene each played well for the Aardvarks, who won the RVAL Team Sportsmanship Award.
