Sunderland, Oct. 18

8:30 a.m. — Two-vehicle accident on the bridge where one vehicle slowed on the bridge, and a second car slid into the rear of the first car; no injuries reported.

12:01 a.m. — Two-car accident at Route 116 and Plumtree Road; one vehicle was waiting to turn onto Plumtree Road, and a second car operator didn’t see vehicle one stopped in time, and crashed into the first vehicle; causing extensive damage to both vehicles; operator of the second vehicle was given a written warning for failure to use care in stopping, and impeded operation for being distracted by the radio.

6:24 p.m. — A parent from Cliffside Apartments reported their children located a kitchen knife on the ground behind the “A” building, and the parent was unsure of what to do with the knife; the officer picked up the knife for safekeeping.

Orange Oct. 19

12:18 p.m. — Control advised they received a call from a woman on Nina Pierce Circle stating she just returned from the hospital and her apartment was broken into; officers investigating.

4:20 p.m. — Control advised the Athol Police is looking for a K-9 deployment for a suspect of a violation of a restraining order that fled on foot in the area of Riverbend Street; officer and K-9 from Orange assisted.

7:31 p.m. — A message on the machine reporting a neighbor’s cows are in his field again; officer called the residence of the cows’ owner, and he wasn’t around; but the person who answered explained how they have been monitoring the cows, and put up a partial electric fence today; the person that answered will let the owner of the cows know about the complaint, and will get the situation taken care of.

9:10 p.m. — Control took a report of a disturbance on East River Street; officer sent and spoke with a found person who explained how a male was arguing, and has been arguing, with the female on the phone, and she was getting upset about the conversation. Peace was restored.

Greenfield, Oct. 20

11:57 a.m. — Officers serving a warrant on Federal Street by the Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters location; arrested was Nicholas Paul Demaria, 21, of Graves Street, South Deerfield on a warrant.

1:40 p.m. — Larceny reported on Phillips Street where the caller says an air compressor was stolen off his porch; officer sent and learned a blue cylinder-shaped air compressor was taken; the caller heard something about an hour ago, but didn’t realize the compressor was missing until now; the air compressor wasn’t working, and was slated for the trash; the caller then stated that whoever took it did him a favor, and he is concerned they may bring it back; units were advised to BOLO.

3:26 p.m. — Accident reported in front of Magical Child store on Main Street; two vehicles involved, but no injuries reported, and the vehicles were gone on arrival of an officer. The caller states that two known people caused the crash due to their jaywalking.

Orange, Oct. 20

2:40 a.m. — Caller reports a vehicle is driving around the runways at the airport; officer found it to be an employee; no problems found.

Greenfield, Oct. 21

2:44 a.m. — Caller from Cumberland Farms area on Federal Street requests a welfare check on a female possibly sleeping in a vehicle there; officer found the female was just tired and was taking a break.

9:47 a.m. — Larceny reported at Sandri Convenience Store on Federal Street where the caller states a male stole beer out of the cooler, and they have him on camera; officer checking also found another individual involved; each stole a beer; they left on foot, going down Norwood Street; officer to investigate.

9:47 a.m. — A caller from Sandri Convenience Store, located at 295 Federal St., reported three people, two males and a female, who stole alcohol. The individuals were described as: a female with long, bleached blonde hair in a pony tail, wearing a baseball cap; a tall, thin black male with short hair wearing jeans and a light blue jacket that read “M and M” on the front; and a white male with dark hair and a dark blue hoodie. The three stole Natty Daddy, raspberry Twisted Tea and Porter with an orange label before leaving on foot down Norwood St. The store may have surveillance footage of the individuals.

10:29 a.m. — A caller at Valley Medical Group, located at 329 Conway St., reported a hit and run in the parking lot. The vehicle involved was a gray 2005 Toyota.

12:13 p.m. — A caller reported someone broke into her home on Conway Street during the night. She found her back door ajar and her purse missing from the kitchen table. The purse, a tan shoulder bag, contained her wallet and a blue Canon Sure Shot camera. She last saw the bag at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, and noticed it missing around 11 a.m. Friday.

4:35 p.m. — A caller at Wilson’s Department Store, located at 258 Main St., reported a heavy set female with dark hair who stole at least one pair of men’s pants. The woman reportedly left in a black Chrysler van.

6:47 p.m. — A caller reported she lost a black women’s wallet at around 2 p.m. at Big Y, located at 237 Mohawk Trail.

Greenfield, Oct. 22

1:13 a.m. — Police approached a suspicious vehicle, a gray 2003 Hyundai Sonata, parked at a rest area at 400 Mohawk Trail. The party, who was traveling to New York, claimed to be resting his eyes after a long drive.

6:11 p.m. — Caller from Leyden Road reports he was hunting where he has hunted for years, and went back to his truck, but then was attacked by the property owner; the reporting person states he is en route to the hospital and would like to meet an officer there; shortly thereafter, the other involved person called to advise he was just in an altercation with the first caller; the second reporting person says he is the “caretaker” for this property where this person was hunting, and didn’t believe the person has permission to be there; he confronted the person about this and the person was unable to tell him who owned the property; the second person stated the first male put up a hand and then, “got in my face” and then punched the reporting person in the face causing a laceration to his face; the reporting person refused EMS, but the person stated at that point that he also hit the other person; officer went to the hospital and then spoke with all involved, including the landowner; they were advised of cross complaint charges in court proceedings.

7:14 p.m. — Unwanted person reported at Swift Cleaners on Main Street and officers sent, and report of several people in this location that don’t appear to be doing laundry, talking and charging devices; they were moved along.

7:36 p.m. — Reporting person says there is a possible oil leak in the basement at a Green River Road residence; Fire Department notified and responding.

9:49 p.m. — Despondent person reported on Keegan Lane where the reporting person states his girlfriend is highly intoxicated and has been combative to him; he also states that she was cutting herself and has superficial wounds. He is concerned about her safety; officer there, investigating and then reports having one male in custody; arrested was Dylan C. Pinkham, 24, of Keegan Lane, Greenfield, charged with assault and battery on family/household member, and strangulation or suffocation.

11:34 p.m. — Officers at Cumberland Farms on Main Street to serve a warrant; arrested was Susan Ryder, 42, of Wells Street, Greenfield, on the warrant.

Orange, Oct. 22

12:30 a.m. — Caller from West River Street requesting officers to remove an unwanted male; on officer’s arrival the reporting person states the male came for some belongings and left before our arrival, she states she is all set now; officer located the male walking on West River Street, and he confirmed he got his things, and won’t be back.

10:33 a.m. — Caller from Putnam Street reported that a tree had come down and is blocking the roadway; officer located a large tree in the middle of the road; Orange Highway Department notified and responded to remove the tree from the roadway.

1:38 p.m. — Caller from Mattawa Circle reports his cat has been shot with a BB gun again; area checked.

Greenfield, Oct. 23

11:06 a.m. — Caller from Main Street reports a fence has blown over into the road and is causing a hazard; officer sent, services rendered.

12:02 p.m. — Accident reported at Silver and Davis streets, officers and Fire Department responding; two vehicles involved, and there are injuries; no additional information logged.

12:19 p.m. — Hazardous condition reported at Bank Row and Mill Street where a tree is down over a billboard there; officer sent, and DPW called and they will send someone out; officer found a large tree snapped, and is partially hanging on, but above the sidewalk and the side of the roadway, and is a safety hazard. Officer sectioning it off with tape, and is awaiting the DPW; when DPW arrives they indicate they were all set for traffic control.

4:25 p.m. — Hazardous condition reported at Silver and Birch streets where a tree has fallen on wires; officer and Fire Department sent; services rendered.
