Ryan Pulizari scored two touchdowns Sunday as the Franklin County Bulldogs defeated Ware, 18-6, in a Suburban League Junior Division football game at Ware High School.
Luc Belhumeur rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown in the win, and Noah Ausikaitis rushed for 36 yards.
Pulizari had four sacks, one fumble recovery and two other tackles to pace the defense, while Belhumeur had four tackles and two sacks. Ausikaitis had two tackles, a sack and an interception, and James Stalens made four tackles. Tanner Rowe finished with three tackles, Jonathan Breor had two tackles and a forced fumble, and Hugh Cyhowski made two tackles. Levin Prondecki, David Damkoehler and Joseph White (one sack) each made a tackle.
Bulldog Peewees fall
Camryn Laster made three tackles and also recovered a fumble and Ware defeated Franklin County Bulldogs, 6-0, in a SL Peewee Division football game Sunday in Ware.
Caleb Johnston and Owen Taylor each made four tackles in the loss, and Aiden Dodge had three tackles. Joaquin Rubio and Owen Hill both had two tackles, while Jackson Campbell, Josh LaFlamme, Brody Girard, Logan Moore, Brenton Russell and Tyler Yetter finished with one tackle apiece.
Frontier Peewees win
CJ Hannum rushed for 20 yards and scored one touchdown and a two-point conversion, and also completed a 15-yard pass as Frontier defeated Quaboag, 20-0, in a SL Peewee Division game at Frontier Regional School in South Deerfield.
Garrett Dredge rushed for 18 yards and caught the 15-yard pass from Hannum, and Teddy Cyr rushed for 32 yards and a touchdown. Lawson Landmark also rushed for 12 yards and a touchdown, and Levi Pickert rushed for 11 yards.
Kaden James had five tackles and a fumble recovery to pace the defense, and Dredge added four tackles. Delaney Fifield, Hannum, Harry LaFlamme and Jacob Rice each had three tackles, Landmark and Pickert had a pair of tackles, and Cyr made one tackle.
Seniors tripped up
Josh Semaski rushed for 105 yards and scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion but it wasn’t enough for the Franklin County Bulldogs in a 44-20 loss to Ware in a SL Senior Division football game Sunday in Ware.
Owen Bashaw finished with 93 passing yards and rushed in a 1-yard touchdown. Hunter Drost caught an 85-yard touchdown pass.
Sam Lapine had six tackles to pace the defense, while Semaski had four tackles. Cameron Gauthier had three tackles and a sack, Drost had two tackles and forced a pair of fumbles, and Jason Daye had two tackles and a fumble recovery. John Semaski added a pair of tackles.
Healy assists Stonehill
Greenfield native and Pioneer Valley Regional School graduate Shea Healy had an assist Saturday to help fifth-ranked Stonehill College to a 4-0 win over 10th-ranked Limestone College in a field hockey game in Gaffney, S.C.
Healy has one goal and one assist in three games for Stonehill (2-1) this season.
Volleyball
Isabel Laubach and Steph Voge each had strong days passing for Northfield Mount Hermon School but NMH suffered a 3-1 loss to Miss Porter’s School in a girls’ prep volleyball match on Saturday.
Siobhan Moore and Laubach led the Lady Hoggers in passing, and Sahara Abizaid and Voge led the team in kills.
Ashfield Senior Scramble
Dave Cote and Robin Hartnett shot a 62 to win the Senior Two-Person Scramble at the Ashfield Community Golf Club on Saturday.
Drew Powell and Maggie Valentine finished second with a 68, and Ward Kaiser and Joyce Charland came in third with a 69.
Cote and Charland won the closest to the pin on No. 5 (no distances), and Louis Montgomery and Barb Ladd were closest on No. 9 (no distances). Cote and Hartnett won the longest drive on No. 4, and Cote and Norma LaBelle won the Marshmallow Drive competition.
CC of G Mixed
Mike Johnson and Meg Sullivan shot a 67 to win low gross in the 2016 Mixed Invitational at the Country Club of Greenfield Sunday.
Steve Bys and Cindy O’Dell came in second with a 69, and John Wilkes and Kara Sikorski was third with a 70. Kim Michael Mertes and Jill Rogalski tied Doug Riel and Lisa Riel for fourth with a 73.
Mike Duclos and Karen Duclos won low net with a 57.
FC Frontier wins
Sam Henry scored three times Saturday to lead FC Frontier to a 5-4 win over Northampton in a Roots Soccer League game at Sunderland Elementary School.
Brady Finch had one goal and one assist in the win. Brady Burch added a goal, and Cam Zononi chipped in an assist. Ryan Belina made seven saves to earn the win.
CRVSL results
Roscore Palmer scored twice Sunday and Phineas Tuttman had one goal to help West County Wildcats to a 3-1 win over Brattleboro Storm A in a Under-11 Division Connecticut River Valley Soccer League game.
Evan Enheut scored the lone goal in the loss.
• In other action, Hugh Hart and Dylan Jackson each scored twice as Mt. Hermon Wolves A edged West County Wildcats, 4-3.
Tuttman had two goals in the loss, and Weston DenOuden netted one goal.
• Also, Brodie Gagne scored twice, and Jessica Beck added one goal to help Mt. Hermon Wolves B to a 3-1 win over Brattleboro Storm B.
• In Under-13 Division action, Alex Shriver scored three times and Brattleboro Storm B dumped Frontier, 9-0.
Lucy Flynn and Ayoub Soliman each added two goals for the winners, and Alex Lier and Ozzy VanHendrick chipped in one goal apiece.
• Meanwhile, Zinabu McNelie registered a hat trick as Brattleboro Storm A topped Mt. Hermon Wolves A, 9-0.
Abby Toule, Sam henry, Alex Bingham, Nico Hesse, Ryder Sullivan and Sam Hall each had a goal in the win.
• In Under-9 action, Gabe Alexandra scored seven times and Brattleboro Storm beat Mt. Hermon Wolves, 8-1.
Rhys Fontaine also scored in the win.
FCFC ties
Ethan Czaporowski and Payton Sladeski each scored once Sunday and Franklin County FC tied Taunton, 2-2, in a Massachusetts Premier League Under-14 Premier Division soccer game in Taunton.
Lars Sippel had an assist for FCFC. Alex Calvanero (12 saves) and Calvin Paddock (five saves) combined in the FCFC net, and Warren Hathaway played well defensively.
Doubles tourney
Registrations are being taken for the Greenfield Doubles Tennis Tournament, which takes place Sept. 19 through 21 at the Beacon Field Clay Courts.
Players sign up individually for the tournament and partners will be drawn from a hat. All matches start at 5:30 p.m. and are best-of-three sets. Fee is $5 plus a can of unopened tennis balls.

Union 38 program
Registrations are now being taken for the Union 38 Field Hockey program, which is for the towns of Deerfield, Whately, Sunderland and Conway and open to girls in grades 3 through 6.
The focus is on skill development with game scenarios later in the season. Field hockey sticks, shin guards and balls will be provided (with a deposit) to the first 35 girls who register. Girls are asked to bring a mouth guard and water bottle.
Practices run on Sundays from 4 to 5 p.m. between Sept. 18 and Oct. 16 at Frontier Regional School in South Deerfield. Cost is $20 for the program, plus a $50 deposit for equipment.

Maynard 5-miler
The 22nd annual Don Maynard Memorial 5-Mile Road Race and 3-mile walk will held Sept. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the Greenfield Municipal Swimming Area.
