Hydro dam repair continues

ORANGE — Engineers hoisted out a section of the dam off West River Street. Stephen Fisk of O’Connell Energy Group, which operates hydro sites like the one by the South Main Street bridge on the Millers River, said that portion of the dam is expected to be reinstalled shortly after Labor Day. He said the dam is being rehabilitated.

“We’ve been pretty busy up there at the project but things are moving along as expected,” he said.

Civil War re-enactment this weekend

PHILLIPSTON — The American Civil War comes back to life this weekend in Phillipston, one mile down the road from Red Apple Farm.

More than 200 people are expected to reenact history. Each day at 2 p.m. a full battle will be staged with troops and artillery. Visitors can stop by the sutlers (vendors who sold provisions to an army) for memorabilia and to meet the people who re-create American history.
