Like its name may suggest, Quik Cutz in Orange is the hair styling salon for the American lifestyle.
Co-owned by Christine Arsenault and Paris Rivera, the business opened on July 5 to offer a fast-paced haircut for the person on the go.
Both owners said they are trying to build clientele by focusing on word-of-mouth advertising and making known their presence at 11 East Main St.
“We have a handful of people every day, so it hasn’t been too bad,” Arsenault said, adding that a lot of people have popped in to take business cards.
She and Rivera said the business specializes in walk-ins and call-aheads for men, women and children. No appointment is necessary.
“Your wait time is going to be shorter, because there are two us cutting — not just one,” Arsenault said. “And all we do is haircuts and waxing.”
Rivera said she believes the business’ quick customer turn-around will appeal to people.
“I think most people just like the whole idea of it — being able to just stop in, get their hair cut quick and be able to get out.”
“So, say you bring your son in,” she said. “You can both get your hair cut at the same time, and it’s not so girly, where a man is going to feel uncomfortable, but it’s not too manly, where a woman’s going to feel uncomfortable either.”
She said she and Arsenault have previously worked at places that had the call-ahead option and it proved quite popular.
Both said they enjoy being their own bosses and having more time for family.
“We can make our own hours. We can have fun with it,” Arsenault said.
She said the business was in the works for about four months, while all necessary permits were obtained.
Town Administrator Diana Schindler said it is wonderful to have a functioning business in a space that sat vacant for some time. Schindler said she also likes the fast-paced service the new business promises.
“I think it’s a great idea,” she said. “I think it’s great for Orange to have that kind of business — that’s a little unique,”
Schindler said the opening of the business increases curb appeal on East Main Street.
“Hopefully it will stick,” she said.
