SHELBURNE — The state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife is stocking brook trout Wednesday in Dragon Brook, which runs through Shelburne Center, and local children and their families are invited to come and help.

According to Robert “Bo” Warren of 38 Bardwells Ferry Road, a ranger will be coming with the fish at about 11 a.m. He’ll give a talk about the fish, the stocking program and about the ecology of the river. Then the children can take pails containing the 5- to 6-inch long fish down to the brook and release them.

Warren said has been holding fish-stocking events behind his home for the past five years, during this week of spring break. “Often grandparents will bring the children,” he said.

A cookout in Warren’s yard takes place after the stocking.
