MONTAGUE — Two hundred and sixty-five students and staff members at Turners Falls High School and Great Falls Middle School have signed a petition advocating to keep School Resource Officer Dan Miner, whose position is being eliminated as part of fiscal year 2026 budget cuts.
In less than a month, President Donald Trump has changed our country from the defender of the free world and democracy into a pariah nation aligned with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s despicable regime. Trump has alienated and demeaned our neighbors and threatened our allies in Europe. He is intent on extorting Ukraine’s minerals and rights while blaming Ukraine for starting the war, all because his ego was damaged when President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would not perform an illegal act for him.
5:13 p.m. — Caller reports a dog is wandering around in the area of Crescent Street. He went to the house at 3 Crescent St. and saw a dish with food and a tether, but the owners weren’t home. Officer advising the dog was just hanging out at his own property.

WASHINGTON — As federal dollars continue to be frozen for projects across the nation, a Pioneer Valley farm has joined a federal lawsuit demanding the government lift the “unlawful and indefinite freeze of congressional appropriated funds,” according to documents filed Thursday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

TURNERS FALLS — Police and firefighters blocked off a portion of the road at the Walgreens plaza on Avenue A Monday evening after an individual called the pharmacy to report a bomb, according to Turners Falls Fire Capt. Michael Currie.

2:47 p.m. — Caller reporting her vehicle was just rear-ended on Millers Falls Road. Unknown injuries.
