Montague Police Logs: Feb. 25 to March 3, 2025

2:47 p.m. — Caller reporting her vehicle was just rear-ended on Millers Falls Road. Unknown injuries. Second reporting party calling at 3:17 p.m. to report she witnessed the gray truck fishtail and then do a burnout at Industrial Boulevard prior to the collision. Officer advised. Third reporting party calling to report the same. A citation was issued.
5:00 p.m. — Reporting party states someone is locked in the bathroom at the Montague Bookmill on Greenfield Road. They have been knocking for 15 minutes and no one is answering. Caller is concerned as they cannot gain access and someone overdosed in the bathroom there last week. Officer advised. Shelburne Control Dispatch Center contacted for assistance. Medical on scene at 5:16 p.m., stating no one is in the bathroom. Officer advised.
3:11 a.m. — Shelburne Control Dispatch Center advising they received a 911 call from Franklin Street, where the reporting party stated she thought someone was in her house. While speaking to her, Shelburne Control was advised by the caller that it was her printer going off and making noise. Reporting party advised she had recently broken up with her boyfriend and she originally thought he could have been in the house. Call logged.
11:20 a.m. — Reporting party states there is a goose “jaywalking” on the bridge over the Connecticut River on Canal Street, creating a traffic hazard. Animal control officer responding.
11:36 a.m. — Reporting party states there is a male on the sidewalk on Avenue A harassing customers of stores and building tenants. Male party was advised of the complaint and told to move along. Involved male called to report that a female assaulted him by blowing her car horn in his ear while he was trying to copy her license plate number. Officer spoke to the female reporting party and business owner, advised them of their options.
10:14 a.m. — Reporting party from Avenue A has called multiple times this morning to report nonsensical things in regard to Elon Musk being held captive in Austin, Texas, by his own family. Officer knocked on reporting party’s door several times. No answer.
5:01 a.m. — Caller from Grand Avenue reports hearing a crackling noise/static coming from somewhere behind her house. Reporting party states she does not see anything but the noise is worrisome. Officer advises all is quiet, states it was a small electric ATV stuck in the ice that was running.
12:25 p.m. — Walk-in to the station reports a vehicle has been parked at the end of Depot Street at the turnaround for a while now. Vehicle is locked. Dispatch left a message for the registered owner who called back stating her daughter drives the car and has been staying with her boyfriend on Depot Street. Daughter advised she parked there as it was the only area clear of snow. Officer advising it doesn’t seem to be an issue parking there at this time.

4:46 p.m. — Caller reports there is an injured bird on Fourth Street. Message left for animal control officer.
12:44 p.m. — Caller at Power Town Apartments on Avenue A states a female who was visiting her stole her bank card and then left for Vermont. Reporting party advised to call if she sees the female later and to check for fraudulent charges on her bank statements.
1:38 p.m. — Reporting party from 253 Farmacy on Millers Falls Road states someone tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill. They have the bill and information on the customer. Report taken.
4:40 p.m. — Caller on Third Street states the downstairs neighbor slammed his door again today. States she has talked to housing and he was supposed to move out but hasn’t. She would like an officer to ask him to close his door quietly in the future. Officer called her back and advised her of her options.
1:54 a.m. — Caller states someone is actively inside his property on Montague City Road. States he can see someone from his camera while he is at work. Reporting party described the individual as wearing all black. Upon arrival, officer located the involved male who stated he had permission to be inside and on the property. Called reporting party back who stated he does not and should not have been there. Keith Mitchell Shaw, 48, of High Street in Greenfield, was arrested on charges of unarmed burglary and larceny from a building.
