Two NYC comedians walk into a bar: Four Phantoms to host comedy bingo night, March 29

You’ve likely heard of bingo being played at casinos, Moose lodges and VFW halls. But how about brewery-hosted comedy shows?
That’s the plan for Four Phantoms Brewing Co. in Greenfield, thanks to Joey Rinaldi and Aditya Mayya, the two New York comedians who devised the concept.
“Something about comedy and bingo makes people want to get hammered,” Rinaldi said. “It’s a great time.”
Rinaldi will headline the March 29 show slated to start at 7 p.m. at 301 Wells St. Tickets are $10. Rinaldi explained that, instead of numbers, audience members mark off joke premises on bingo cards for a chance to win prizes, including shot glasses and the comedians’ merchandise.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re 7 years old or 70 years old, people like free stuff,” he said.
Ryan Cadrette, director of taproom operations at Four Phantoms, said the brewery hosted a great comedy night in 2023 and wanted to dip its toe in the comedic waters again.
“We’re always excited to work with new collaborators on events we think the community will enjoy, especially when those collaborators are also excited about working with us. We take a great deal of pride in offering frequent and diverse event programming, including drag shows, trivia nights, board game meetups, live music, and food pop-ups,” he wrote in an email to the Greenfield Recorder, adding that those at the brewery are particularly excited about the bingo comedy concept. “It provides an additional interactive element where the audience can identify joke premises to win prizes. We’re always happy to experiment with an original twist on a classic concept, and we our guests will be as excited about it as we are.”
Rinaldi and Mayya met at New York University and became friends after graduation. Rinaldi, who grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, has performed stand-up comedy for about eight years. He has been to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was recently on stage in Canada. He reached out to Four Phantoms after becoming familiar with Greenfield due to frequent trips through the small city on his way to go skiing in Vermont.

“I have good experiences of doing comedy shows at breweries,” he said.
Rinaldi described his comedy as self-deprecating with a great deal of personal storytelling.
Mayya, who hails from Toronto, has performed his craft for about six years and specializes in observational comedy, which focuses on the commonplace aspects of everyday life. He mentioned the comedy bingo concept has not yet been tried outside of New York City.
“It feeds a competitive nature,” he said. “I love New York. It’s my favorite place in the world. But the nice thing about comedy is that it takes you to different places.”
Mayya said he and Rinaldi have performed shows in Massachusetts “and both of us had a really good experience.”
