I have lived in South Deerfield for 39 years. Our home has a septic system. Over that time, voters have come to the plate to vote for what is best for the infrastructure of the town. Is there debate? Yes! Is there disagreement? Yes! You bet there is.
But the reality is that when we help the town, we help each other and our greater community. In this vote, sewer users are asked to pay 75 percent and septic users are asked to pay 25 percent.
For a septic user this amount is approximately $8 a month for an average-size home. There will be some reduction in costs with money from grants if this vote passes. That is a help.
The repercussions of a no vote will be calamitous for the town. Townspeople have made critical votes before my time that benefited my family and me and the town I call home. This is our turn to make a vote for the future of the town. Please join me in voting yes Sept. 9.
