It was a career day for Delaney Parker.

The Orange native and Mahar Regional School alum set the Westfield State women’s soccer career goals record on Saturday in a 5-0 win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy at Alumni Field in Westfield.

Parker notched her 52nd career goal to cap the scoring in the win, as she tallied a penalty kick in the 42nd minute.

“It feels great,” said Parker in a Westfield State press release. “I could tell the shots I was taking earlier were just me in my head. I was thinking ‘I need to get it’ but I was just off.”

The Owls improve to 3-3 overall, 1-0 in MASCAC play.

Parker pressed for the record-breaking goal but she delivered a couple of shots high over the cross bar in the early going.

“Even the PK wasn’t great,” Parker said. “But it went in, and now it’s over with.”

Parker now has 52 goals, one more than former record holder Sandy (Pinto) Graham (Class of ’97). She led NCAA Division 3 players in goals with 31 as a freshman and added 16 her sophomore season.

Next up, the Owls are at Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a non-conference match.
