ASHFIELD — If you’ve visited www.ashfield.org anytime in the past week, you may have noticed the town website has a new look.
The town has launched a new design, replacing the old design that relied on outdated coding that was no longer supported by the town’s web provider, CivicPlus, according to Town Clerk Alexis Fedorjaczenko.
“The design template has changed, and this is mainly because we had not updated our site design in some time and our old template had become outdated with regards to the code. CivicPlus was no longer supporting our old template,” Fedorjaczenko explained. “To ensure that the site continues to work well for all visitors, we undertook this redesign.”
Fedorjaczenko said she worked with the CivicPlus team to update the design of the website, while CivicPlus staff updated coding to ensure the site would continue to function. None of the content on the site was changed, and the new site design looks similar to the old one, but the look has been modernized in hopes that it will be easier for residents to navigate.
“The content will be the same as before, and we tried to select a new design template with a similar feel to the old one,” she said. “The hope is that visitors will have a seamless experience going from the old site to the new one, and that it will be easy for people to find the content they are looking for. People can contact me with questions by phone or email.”
While content mostly stayed the same, she added that the new website provides the opportunity to include some fresh photos of Ashfield. When people visit the homepage, they will now be met with a banner image of either a stone wall on Bug Hill Road, taken by Deb Sherr; a rainbow over the southern part of town, taken by Elizabeth Bienz; or a snowy field, taken by Jody Hall.
Fedorjaczenko said she would like to continue adding photos to the website, and people can submit their photos, with a minimum width of 2200 px, and 72 dpi or higher, to townclerk@ashfield.org.
