The Greenfield girls Suburban basketball team made it’s triumphant return after a lengthy hiatus this season. It’s been almost 30 years since the Green Wave fielded a team, according to coach Tiffany Thomas.
Thomas coaches the team and is the Suburban coordinator. The program lacked the necessary volunteers for years.
“I really wanted to get them playing competitively” Thomas said. “So they are prepared when they are older.”
The 5th and 6th grade team downed Northampton, 28-22, at home on Saturday. Savannah Thomas netted 13 points for the Green Wave (2-2). Penelope Gioules had five points with Hayden Sadler chipping in with four points.
Last weekend, the Green Wave picked up a win over Mohawk, 35-15. Gioules dropped 13 points on the Warriors. Sadler was also in double-figures with 10 points. Clara Behan added eight points for Greenfield.
