WARWICK — When the first fundraisers for the two surviving members of the Seago family began over a week ago, Town Coordinator David Young said “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
Local residents have proven him to be right, as donations via GiveSendGo.com approach $80,000 and Athol resident Christine Rouleau works to organize a Zumbathon to benefit the family.
The community has rallied around Scott Seago and his daughter, Vivian, following the three-alarm fire at their home that claimed the lives of Scott’s wife, Lucinda, 42, and four of their children, Peter, 7; Demetria, 9; Martin, 12 and Nicholas, 15.

Upon hearing the news of the March 4 fatal fire, Christine Rouleau was one of many local residents who felt she “had to do something.” Though Rouleau had never met the Seagos, she’s been teaching Zumba classes for the Warwick Recreation Committee for over five years, and knows Warwick to be “a wonderful community.”
“The Warwick community’s been awesome to me,” Rouleau said.
The Zumbathon, a dance-based fitness program, will be held Sunday from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Warwick Community School. The cost to participate is $20 per person or $25 for a family. Additionally, raffle items have been donated from local businesses, Rouleau said, and snacks will be provided.
Rouleau said she doesn’t have a cash goal for the Zumbathon, but hopes for a good turnout. “I’m just hoping a lot of people show up and they have a good time,” she said.
