NORTHFIELD – Winchester, N.H., police are investigating a not-so-sweet candy heist that took place Tuesday at 3 a.m. in the snack bar of the Northfield Drive-In. The drive-in has a video of the theft and has posted it on Facebook, in hopes that someone will recognize the burglars and help police find them.
The three-minute security camera video also, with sound, shows two young males stowing packages of candy into backpacks and, later, into an empty trash can.
Winchester Police Chief Gerry Phillips said the snack bar door was pried open and two young men in their late teens or early 20s took several hundred dollars worth of candy.
Although it’s called the Northfield Drive-In, the outdoor movie theater is technically situated within three towns – Northfield, Winchester, N.H., and Hinsdale, N.H., Phillips said. The snack bar happens to be located in the Winchester part, which is why his department was called about the theft.
“They didn’t damage any of the Fryolators,” he remarked. “They just seemed to go where the candy was stored.”
