GREENFIELD — Bystander training to help combat racial oppression is coming to Greenfield in March.
Racial Justice Rising will be holding a free interactive workshop, “Step up! Bystander Training” on Saturday, March 3, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on Silver Street.
The workshop will teach bystanders how to deal with oppression and safely intervene. There will also be discussion on what prevents bystanders from addressing potential harms.
The workshop will be presented by Strong Oak Lefebvre, executive director and co-founder of Visioning BEAR Circle intertribal Coalition Inc., a group that provides “prevention education, training and technical assistance” to indigenous communities in the Northeast, according to the group’s website.
There will be free childcare provided at the event. To participate in this option, organizers request that an RSVP be sent to email@racialjusticerising.org with the ages and total number of children expected.
Racial Justice Rising is an all-volunteer racial justice organization in Franklin County that is looking to “help build the movement for racial justice” and “engage in restorative activities” to improve racial divide, according to its mission statement.
