Poetry workshop
to be held Tuesday
WARWICK — A poetry workshop with bg Thurston will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Warwick Free Public Library.
According to Thurston’s website, she has taught poetry through a variety of continuing education programs including Lasell Village in Newton and Newton Lifetime Learning. The workshops will focus on techniques for generating poems and refining work through revision.
The final workshop in the series will be held Aug. 22.
NORTHFIELD — Dickinson Memorial Library is offering a trivia night and potluck at the Northfield Golf Club, located at 31 Holton St., on Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Town Administrator Willie Morales will ask questions to teams of up to five. Guests are invited to bring a dish of food to share and their children.
BERNARDSTON — Kringle Candle Company, located at 220 South St., is hosting “Superhero Saturday” on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to the event’s Facebook page, children will be invited to create their own masks and capes at the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) crafts table.
NORTHFIELD — Pioneer Valley-born magician Damian Odess-Gillett will perform on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Dickinson Memorial Library.
During the event, which marks the end of the summer library program, library staff will also announce the winners of the program’s raffle winners and offer cotton candy.
NORTHFIELD — The Farley Five will play a concert under the Stanley Wickey Pavilion at Town Hall on Saturday, Aug. 12, starting at 6 p.m.
The event will be held rain or shine, and guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Creamie, located at 62 Main St., is hosting “Kirtan at the Creamie!” on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m.
According to the event’s Facebook page, Kirtan is “a meditative and energizing practice of devotional call-and-response singing.”
Musicians include Northfield residents Libby Volckening and James Robinson, former Northfield resident Melissa Stevens and Northampton resident Amanda Turk.
Library offers hotspot to borrow
NORTHFIELD — Dickinson Memorial Library is now lending a Verizon hotspot so Northfield residents can have unlimited wireless access wherever Verizon cell phone service is available. The hotspot can be borrowed for one week.
