While I enjoyed Jon Bos’ quoting of the song “Baby, Let Me Follow You Down” in his My Turn of Jan. 6, I’d like to point out that “Bob Dylan’s lyrics” are not, in fact, Bob’s. They were taught to him by my father, Eric von Schmidt, “in the green pastures of Harvard University,” as Bob notes on his first album. Papa himself credited the Rev. Gary Davis with writing three-quarters of the version he sang and I know Papa would want to make sure the Reverend got his due!
