The Friends of the Dickinson Memorial Library in Northfield recently had a fundraiser at the Soup & Games Event at Hope & Olive Restaurant. We want to thank the Hope & Olive staff and all the other restaurants and people volunteering to make this event such a success.
Special thanks to Jim and Maggie Zaccara and Evelyn Wulfkuhle for hosting this monthly event for over the past 10 years.
Soup & Games is such a unique and wonderful event. The first Monday of every month Hope & Olive hosts this event to support local charities. Soup, bread and mac and cheese are donated by a number of food venues from Franklin County and a few from Hampshire County.
Volunteers pick up the donated food which provides a delicious, free dinner for those who participate. Each month a different non-profit charity benefits from the event.
The group can have a raffle and bake sale to add to fundraising. All tips and gratuities are donated to the non-profit.
And Soup & Games is fun! We were very impressed with the crowd who attended our event. We learned there are many people who come regularly to play games and support the charities. The restaurant was full with all ages having fun for a good cause.
We were very pleased with all our Northfield neighbors who came out to support our great library. It’s amazing that the restaurant’s owners donate one of their few days off to host this event every month. And then they work hard at it.
It’s such a great feeling to participate, to see many friends, neighbors and strangers enjoying the event. We had a very successful fundraiser and greatly appreciate this opportunity.
I would encourage everyone on the first Monday of every month (no events in the summer months) to attend, have some delicious soup, play a game, take a chance on a raffle and support a local nonprofit. Soup & Games showcases the wonderful spirit of community in Franklin County!
