GREENFIELD — Do you have large items in your house that you’re looking to get rid of?

The Department of Public Works is offering bulky item curbside pick-up to residents, beginning this week and going until October. These collections give residents a chance to get rid of their larger household items, including sofas, refrigerators and other large household appliances for a fee paid to the city.

“This is very specific to large bulky items,” Janine Greves, office manager and recycling coordinator for the Greenfield DPW, said.

“Really has to be big items you can’t fit in the backseat of your car,” she added.

Residents will be charged a $12 fee for every stop DPW personnel have to make to a location, but can schedule multiple pick-up dates. Residents can put out multiple items, with Greves suggesting that the total be limited to a “household quantity of items.”

Items that are included, along with prices, are:

Stoves, dryers or washing machines for $5 each

Overstuffed chairs for $10

Sofas, refrigerators or air conditioners for $15 each

Mattresses, box springs or televisions for $20 each

Video game consoles for $25

Pick-up will occur every other Friday, beginning April 27 and ending Oct. 19. Fees must be paid before pick-up of items.

Residents can call 413-772-1528, ext. 6100 to schedule an appointment or for more information.
