I think it’s possible to solve any problems within the Greenfield Police Department without cutting the budget.
Maybe a civilian safety commissioner reporting to the mayor and City Council would be a better step forward.
It seems easy for white progressives in low crime neighborhoods to defund the police. They provide vital services to any community. Let us support the police in a proactive way with our neighbor’s safety in mind. I hope the mayor vetoes the budget cuts proposed. Better to think twice.
