Montague, Aug. 28

10:58 a.m. — Caller from Maple Street reports she was bitten by a loose dog this morning; the dog ran off private property into the street where she was walking her dog, and bit her arm; the reporting person has already sought medical attention; officer checked the town dog registration but the dog in question is not registered; there is a terrier registered at the owner’s address but it was a German shepherd that bit the reporting person; officer attempted follow up, and will turn the report over to the ACO.

7:51 p.m. — General disturbance reported from Eleventh Street and on the bike path where the caller says he just witnessed four guys on bikes smash a bunch of glass bottles near the high tension area on the bike path; they then began throwing rocks at the glass; the reporting person asked them to clean it up but they were rude and vulgar toward him; both officers checked the area by the bike path, and surrounding area, and found nobody matching the descriptions given by the reporting person.

Greenfield, Aug. 29

11 a.m. — Runaway reported from Elm Street location where the caller says her 16-year-old asked to spend the night at a friend’s house, and was told no, and then went anyway; unsure where the friend lives, and has had no contact with the daughter since 9 p.m. last night; she checked the last known residence of a boyfriend, but he no longer lives there; description filed in the national alert system, but Orange Police advises there was a boy with that name at a fire last night on Wheeler Avenue, and the daughter was hanging out with her; mother then advises the female is now in Colrain; an officer then located the juvenile female in Charlemont, and the mother went to pick up the daughter and return her home; the description was then removed from the NCIC system.

11:22 a.m. — Traffic stop at Main and Federal streets, and investigation led to arrest of Amy M. Pellerin, 38, of Bridge Street, Millers Falls, on a warrant.

3:20 p.m. — Officer checking on a male believed to be intoxicated at Federal and Pierce streets; found the male was attempting to get to the Detox center on Federal Street, he was given the direction.

10:27 p.m. — Disturbance reported on Conway Street near Call’s Corner where youths in the area were talking about starting a fight; this happened while an officer was on foot in the area, and it didn’t take place; overheard all three individuals talking about starting a fight on Main Street; yelling threats as they didn’t know the officer was in the area of Conway and Devens streets; the officer remained in the area until they were gone.

10:48 p.m. — Caller from Devens Street states the downstairs neighbor threatened her dog and cat; units advised.

11:32 p.m. — Caller from High and Park streets where a male, possibly intoxicated, was stumbling near this location, the caller advised the person was on the ground several times; officer on scene located the male, face down and bleeding from the nose and knees; the male had pinpoint pupils and altered mental status; marijuana was located on him, and was seized to be destroyed; the male was unable to communicate or ambulate; the male was given Narcan, and it improved his condition; Greenfield Fire Department Ambulance arrived to transport the male to Baystate Franklin Medical Center for facial trauma and narcotic intoxication.

Montague, Aug. 29

4:26 a.m. — Breaking and entering reported on Fifth Street where the caller says he awoke when he heard his car alarm going off; when he checked the vehicle the doors were open, and it appeared that someone had gone through his vehicle; he confirmed that nothing was missing from the vehicle; the officer checked the area for other vehicles, but found that no other vehicles were entered after extensive search of the area.

8:18 a.m. — Caller form River Street reports her vehicle was broken into and several items were stolen, including her purse and medication; the reporting person resides in Erving and the vehicle was parked at her residence when it was broken into; she was referred to the Erving Police Department.

8:48 a.m. — Report of a breaking and entering, into an unlocked vehicle on T Street overnight; nothing stolen but some damage was done to the inside of the vehicle; unknown plate number, but the vehicle is up on blocks by the garage, on the mentioned property; officer advised.

10:36 a.m. — Caller from Subway on Avenue A who reports her wallet was stolen from the location, but no suspect description, and said the reporting person advised the suspect would have been in view of the surveillance cameras; officer responded and took the report, and will BOLO for the suspect; owner of the wallet just called to say that there was some money stashed in the wallet, but unsure as to how much; investigation led to arrest of Carl Mazzamaro, 22, of Oakville, Conn., charged with larceny from a building.

3:31p.m. — A 911 abandoned call with no answer on the call back; officers sent, and found that it was just a verbal altercation between the mother and the son’s girlfriend; the involved people will separate for a while so they can cool down.

Greenfield, Aug. 30

7 a.m — Despondent person reported at Heather Court where the caller reports her 14-year-old son is refusing to go to school, stating that he is going to kill himself; the child ran out of the back door, and was on a mountain bike; on officers arrival, the youth was back at home, but the minor continued to threaten to harm himself and police, additional officers requested due to the minor being under a bed, and the mother reported he has access to numerous knives, and the minor was threatening to use the knives; Medcare requested to the scene, and the minor was secured and voluntarily complied and went with Medcare to Baystate Franklin Medical Center; a Section 12 process was completed.

6:09 p.m. — Accident at Silver and High streets, two vehicles involved; first vehicle started and then stopped in traffic at the intersection; the first vehicle failed to stop for the second vehicle, and collided with the rear of the second vehicle; minor rear end damage of he second vehicle; small dent of the rear bumper, no injuries reported, and the officer assisted with information exchange.

6:50 p.m. — Caller from area of Bernardston Road and Severance Street reports juveniles putting a large amount of rocks on the railroad tracks; the caller will await officers near the bridge; both juveniles were located and advised of trespass laws (dealing with railroads).

7:22 p.m. — Caller from Friendly’s on the Mohawk Trail reports one of the males that stands in the area asking for money, is on their property and has been asked to leave several times, and, she stated, he has been leaving trash behind; she was advised of the trespass notice options, and will pursue that tomorrow; the officer spoke to the male and advised him of the complaint and he willingly left the property.

8:12 p.m. — Officer attempting to get the lights at Main and Federal streets to cycle properly; lights would not cycle heading east; they wouldn’t even cycle with the opticon; on-going safety issue.

Montague, Aug. 30

1:07 a.m. — General disturbance at Third Street and Avenue A. where a female 911 caller reports a male yelling and “howling,” while walking down Third Street toward Avenue A, and the male is wearing a long black overcoat, and appeared to have a Halloween mask on top of his head; officers responded but were unable to locate the male.

1:48 a.m. — Fire reported on Fourth Street where a female reports the fire alarm sounding in an upstairs apartment; officers and Turners Falls Fire Department are en route; the initial call was followed by four 911 calls and one business line call for the same incident, and smoke and flames showing from Fourth Street; units responding requested to strike for second alarm via Shelburne Control, and they were advised; an officer can hears screams for help but unknown location; DPW requested for barricades for Fourth Street and Eversource requested; Red Cross requested, as individuals were displaced; one firefighter to be transported by Medcare for a hand burn; fire then reported as under control; officer requested at the scene for arrest of a male for interfering with fire operations; subject arrested was Eric R. Bell, 27, of Fourth Street, Turners Falls, charged with interfering with a firefighter and disorderly conduct, and bail was denied and ordered held for court. Fire Marshal is in contact, and state police headed to station to speak to the prisoner. Red Cross volunteers are en route to speak with the people who are displaced. All units cleared the scene, and the property was turned over to the owner.

Orange, Aug. 29

10:35 a.m. — Fraud reported from by an East Main Street caller who reports they sent a text message to their friend; within few minutes a male caller stated that the person has hit his nephew at a gas station in Billerica, with their car, and tried to flee; the driver was chased for two blocks, caught and pulled out of the car by their hair; the male demanded $2,500 for medical bills, or he would shoot the person; the male said he had a gun, and a female voice could be heard in the background yelling, help. The male started giving instruction to go to a bank; the reporting person said that at this point they hung up; the Billerica Police Department was contacted and they report this is a scam to collect money and they have had many calls in the area towns and cities in recent weeks; the reporting person was advised.
