Colrain passes both Special Town Meeting articles
COLRAIN — Sixty-eight voters passed both articles on Tuesday’s Special Town Meeting warrant by majority.
Article 1 asked the town to appropriate a sum of money for its assessment to the Mohawk Trail Regional School District. At Annual Town Meeting, Colrain voted down the operating assessment, however, because the majority of the district’s eight member towns approved the assessment, Colrain needed to go back and appropriate the funds.
The town’s operating assessment to Mohawk Trail is $2.78 million.
Passage of Article 2 established an Elderly and Disabled Taxation Aid Fund. The affirmative vote also creates a Taxation Aid Committee, to be made up of the chair of the Board of Assessors, the town treasurer and three citizens to be chosen by the Selectboard.
