Ducks to visit Northfield library

NORTHFIELD — Live ducks will be quacking and waddling around outside the Dickinson Memorial Library as part of a free event on Wednesday, June 17, from 3 to 4 p.m.

The ducks come from the Duckworld sanctuary in Montague.

June 20: Ice cream social, concert to kick off Summer Reading Program

NORTHFIELD — The community is invited to a free ice cream social and concert at Dickinson Memorial Library on Saturday, June 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. to kick off its Summer Reading Program for all ages.

Local folk musician, storyteller and songwriter Eli Elkus will entertain with originals and classics. In addition to enjoying ice cream and popsicles, families can partake in other entertainment, including fairy-house building, bubbles and chalk.

Attendees can also pick up their summer reading logs so they can earn prizes like yoga, syrup, pizza, popcorn, a massage, a riverboat cruise, a golf outing or a ride in a police cruiser to the Northfield Creamie.

The rain date for the ice cream social is Saturday, June 27, from 3 to 5 p.m., while the rain date for the concert is Tuesday, June 30, at 5:30 p.m.

The program is made possible by the Friends of Dickinson Memorial Library and the Northfield Cultural Council.
