With the announcement of Hampshire College’s demise comes the school’s decision to sell its glorious 700-acre campus asap. This college was a unique place of learning whose philosophy was exploration and discovery rather than the rigid curriculums of most colleges. All this played out on a beautiful and nature-filled campus. And now there seems to be little interest in highlighting the school’s philosophies as well as any interest in preserving its natural treasures. Students, faculty, staff, and wildlife are all about to be sacrificed for quick profits. So sad and pathetic.
