Once again, columnist Jon Huer writes, in his intense and eloquent fashion, a tirade against capitalism, using, it seems to me, a lot of his emotional capital! [“Another ‘No Kings’ protest? We already have a king,” Recorder, April 18]
In my opinion, capitalism is basic human nature. Taking advantage of God-given (read: genetic) talents (like athletes) and developing them (or like writers, for that matter) for personal gain is well deservedly admired.
I agree that unbridled capitalism (i.e. greed) is harmful. So let’s just rein it in, OK? Use our gifts and assets wisely, ya dig?
It’s quite possible, even been proven.
Oh, by the way, we do have kings in America. Martin Luther comes to mind, as well B.B, Carole, Stephen, Nat Cole, even Elvis! My own personal favorite is that son of Jewish carpenter, maybe you’ve read about him.
