The Town of Orange has a very important Special Election coming up on Monday, May 4. We will be electing two people to finish out two terms on the Select Board that ended early due to resignations. We wholeheartedly support Denise Andrews for the 10-month term and Alexandre Schwanze for the 22-month term.

Denise has listed her professional accomplishments and qualifications for the job, including being a former state representative. I’d like to tell you why we support her. She is one of the most honest people you will ever meet. She has an unwavering moral compass that guides her in every aspect of her life. She has a deep devotion to the town of Orange and it’s residents, as demonstrated by her many volunteer positions and her tireless work on our downtown area and surrounding parks. She doesn’t just talk the talk — she walks the walk.

Denise is a deeply spiritual person and gives grace to all. She can be counted on to be fair. She truly believes in bringing people together to collaborate, understand differing opinions and work toward common goals. And she has that rare ability to foster mutual respect. Her life is based on this.

Alex was elected to the Selectboard in 2020, to finish out a term that also had ended early due to a resignation. Alex showed the ability to listen, debate respectfully and promote what was best for the town. After completing his one-year term, he was accepted into law school and returns to us now, as an attorney. Alex and his wife have chosen to remain in Orange and raise their family here. He has a vested interest in the progress and success of Orange that is within our reach. He is the perfect example of a young professional who could live anywhere, and chooses Orange as his home. The qualifications he brings to the job are exemplary: dedication, perseverance, and commitment to an idea. The idea that Orange can once again thrive and be a proud community.
