Wendell Democrats to hold caucus on March 16
WENDELL — The Wendell Democratic Town Committee’s caucus is scheduled for 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Wendell Senior Center, 2 Lockes Village Road, on Monday, March 16.
All registered Wendell Democrats are welcome to attend the caucus to elect delegates to attend the Democratic State Convention, which is set for May 29 and 30 in Worcester.
Floral-printed cloth workshop coming to New Salem
NEW SALEM — Anyone who is interested in learning the process of creating floral-printed cloth is invited to the New Salem Public Library on Saturday, March 21.
“Crafternoons: Hammered Flower Prints” is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Guests will learn how to treat fabric using a binder to help colors last. Then, using mordant-treated dish towels, they will use fresh flowers to design a pattern and hammer it into the cloth.
This program is open to all ages and all materials will be provided. Registration is recommended by calling 978-544-6334 or emailing n_salem@cwmars.org. The program is presented by the LaunchSpace Mobile Makerspace Program, which provides a fully stocked and staffed traveling makerspace.
Due date for New Salem nomination papers coming up
NEW SALEM — Nomination papers for the May 4 town election can be taken out as late as March 13 and must be returned by 5 p.m. on March 16. The papers are available from the town clerk during office hours, Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m., or by appointment.
There will be open seats on the Selectboard, Board of Assessors, Board of Health, Planning Board, School Committee, library trustees and Municipal Light Board. Most are for three-year terms, with the exception of a five-year term on the Planning Board and a two-year term for one unfilled library trustee position.
To have their name put on the ballot, candidates must secure 20 signatures from registered voters, but the town clerk recommends having a few extras in case there is difficulty verifying any of them. Contact Town Clerk Stacy Senflug at clerk@newsalemma.org with questions or to make an appointment.
